Gluck's Orfeo. The evening opens with Orpheus, who conquered death with music and lost his love with a single glance.
The pieces Brahms dedicated to Clara Schumann after forty years of silence, and the fire of the Paganini Variations.
A waltz by Jeajoon Ryu, commissioned by Hai-Kyung Suh and dedicated to her, sounding in the world for the first time this evening.
Petrarca's sonnet sings through Liszt's piano, and the story ends in the festive light of the Rhapsodie espagnole.
